Hi oppo, long time lurker, 3rd time poster here,
LS3 ND: Most certainly the answer
Seeking opinions of what will happen to the ND1's value with the release of the more more powerful ND2. Will they tank?
One reason I ask, I found a ND1 club with the brembos and bbs for cheap. Well cheaper than KBB. Significantly. I am wondering how much cheaper ND1's will get.
Not that I am really in the market as my fiesta st does everything I need it to as DD and my NA miata works well (sometimes) as a weekend/project car. Which brings me to my second question: How much would I regret trading a FIST for an ND as daily?

I don’t think prices will tank. Most Miata buyers aren’t buying for pure performance, and the “more power” is really just an increased redline, which is great, but most owners will never wind it out that far anyway.
FIST vs ND daily - how often do you have a passenger? If pretty much never, you can use the passenger seat to stash stuff, but clearly, the Fiesta is hugely more usable as a conveyance of people & things than a Miata.
Never have driven a Fiesta ST, but have drive an ND - I would gladly daily it, but as a dad with 3 kids, it’s very much an impossibility in the near term.

Passengers? My friends hate riding in the fiesta so I guess that’s not to o big of a concern.
Honestly one thing that surprised me the most about the FIST is how inconvenient it can be. I bought with the intention of being practical (and insanely fun) but have come to find out its not much more practical than a BRZ, for my needs at least. I just wonder how much I am really losing going to a 2 seat roadster...

Yeah, I can see the Fiesta being no better in that respect than a BRZ (which is also much, much more practical than a Miata). What’s the biggest thing you regularly have to move?

Hard to tell if prices are tanking because of the ND2 or because this is a niche product with a shrinking fanbase and we’re heading into winter . As an owner, I don’t want them to tank, but I have no plans to sell mine.
I daily a ND1 but I live in SoCal and I’m single, so it’s not a problem having one as my only car for 99% of the time. My last car was a Camry and I found myself maybe using 5- 10% of that car at any given moment. With that said, the 1% of the time where I wish I had a bigger car always seems to hurt the most.
The ND2 has the allure of more power as well as some other goodies to sweeten the deal. It has the telescoping steering column which is nice for some drivers, standard reverse camera, and it also carries the revised steering calibration & Bilsteins from the ‘17-’18 car.
If you want to learn more, Flyin’ Miata is working on their ‘19 car and they like what they see. But even they believe that a ND1 with forced induction can go toe-to-toe with a ‘19 for similar money.

I don’t think they will tank due to the two small improvements. But that said, when I drove a ND ~500 miles , my main takeaways were that it needed a small power bump and a telescoping wheel. So if you aren’t in the market right now , wait a year or two and find a depreciated ND2

Why do you say an ND1 needs a telescoping wheel? Is the normal location just in an odd spot or would it better fit certain drivers (taller, shorter...ect.)?

The winter thought also crossed my mind. I wasn’t sure if it was as much of a thing with the newer miatas as it is with NA/NB’s.

If we’re talking regularly maybe golf clubs. Otherwise I have only really filled the fiesta up when moving (which I have done 3 times in the fiesta, hopefully done with that ).

I’m very average height but kinda lanky. It would have been a little more comfortable if the wheel could have came out a bit. It didn’t cause me pain, but it would have been nice.

I can’t see values tanking. If people were that set on power, they’d get a brz :P
